in 1992, I was at Coney Island everyday afterschool. ive probably eaten that fried chicken on the sand a hundred times. Great piece. I love when you write about this city. To me, NY feels more and more like parents I want to emancipate from, but will never truly rid the fact that i’m of them.

Wow!! Your article couldn’t have come at a better time.

My Ragdoll boy, Jaspurr, has been dealing with a chronic upper respiratory infection and asthma for about 18 months; or at least that’s what 2 different vets think he has. I can’t call his symptoms “seasonal” because he has the sneezing almost all the time. When it gets really bad, and the coughing starts he’s back on azithromycin. But you can’t keep pets on antihistamines and bronchodilators forever; besides they don’t work that great anyways. I’ve been at my wits end, so I too began looking for “alternative” treatments. I talked to the pet supply store owner near my home and she suggested Antronex. At $11 for 90 tablets it was a deal…a steal compared to what I’ve paid in vet bills and pharmaceuticals. I just started the Antronex this week-end, but was getting a little nervous, like maybe I’ve gone off the deep-end. But after reading Honey Pot’s saga, I am going to keep giving Jaspurr his pill. He’s only 11 lbs, so I’m just giving him one tablet per day. I might just start taking it myself.

Hey Suzanne! I transitioned my caffeine addiction from Coke to iced tea, then iced coffee..I do still love Coke, and can actually drink their diet sodas! There are actually way less people asking for money on the trains these days (with or without children) on the D train anyway… Thanks for reading and commenting!

I remember when you didn’t drink coffee at all, just Coca-Cola. Do you still do that? Anyway, on my most recent visit to NYC (where I used to live just 5.5 months ago), I found the beggers the most annoying, especially beggers dragging around children. While it doesn’t compare to the loveliness that is the rather small Washington, D.C., subway system, the NYC mass transit system gets you where you want to go, and for that, I was much appreciative.
